Wow - that is interesting! I never noticed that.

The Australian system favors leverage and dividends in particular. It doesn't favor capital gains even with the long-term CGT now in place (that was offset by removing indexing of capital gains). Also no inheritance/estate tax and compulsory retirement saving + welfare for the old (none of this non-means tested social secrity system).

Although I've never heard any of the Bushies say "supply side" or "trickle down", their tax policies seem to say they're true believers, finishing the job Reagan started.
