The levers of a central bank can be used to serve the purposes of of a prudent banker like Ian MacFarlane.

Unfortunately the levers of the central bank can also be used to serve the purposes of half-mad Monetarists, as some of Ian's predecessors were.

One of the things I like about the Australian character is the ability to learn from experience.
