Steve, you'll like this one. Another incidence of "fake but true":

"Star" Fakes It for Brad, Angelina

It was the perfect shot--a little too perfect.

Star magazine is finding itself the subject of sensational headlines Thursday after the glossy faked photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on a beach together.

With bitter rival Us Weekly reportedly paying upwards of $1 million to lockup exclusive U.S. rights for the actual paparazzi-taken photos of the are-they-or-aren't-they couple of the moment, Star wasn't to be outdone. The magazine ran its own photos of the tandem lovingly gazing at each other. But the images, which grace the cover and appear on page 46, are actually cut-and-paste jobs.

Nowhere is it mentioned on the cover that the image was cobbled together. Pitt's pic came from a Caribbean beach, while Jolie's was snapped over a year ago on a beach in Virginia. Photoshop them together and voil--African beach shot!

Star cops to the photo composite in small print on page 46.

The original snaps of the twosome appeared in London's Sun. Us acquired the U.S. rights, paying between $500,000 and $1 million, per reports. The pictures have also been widely circulated online.

Pitt and wife Jennifer Aniston broke up four months ago amid rampant speculation of a burgeoning romance between the 41-year-old actor and Jolie, 29. As the stories go, the two hooked up last year while filming Mr. and Mrs. Smith, due out June 10.

Ever since, Us Weekly and Star have been running with the romance rumors.

Us Weekly recently ran a cover story featuring separate photos of the stars under the headline "It's True!" The accompanying article included quotes from employees at the Parker Palm Springs hotel and other unnamed sources who claimed they saw Pitt and Jolie being affectionate during a weekend retreat at the California resort.

"They were kissing and holding each other. He was rubbing her back. It looked romantic," one purported witness gabbed to the magazine.

However, both Pitt's rep and Pitt himself denied the story. The actors' reps have yet to comment on the African beach get-together.

Star ran a story in April 2004 under the headline "Brad Gets Naked with Angelina."

Both the real photos in Us and Star's mock-up don't do much to back up the tabs' claims that Pitt and Jolie are having a torrid affair. The images just show the two actors, clothed, near each other on the beach with Jolie's 3-year-old son Maddox nearby.

Meanwhile, Pitt and Jolie also appear in the most recent issue of People magazine, as 2005's most beautiful man and woman, per an online poll.

They appear separately in the magazine--with no photo composites.

I thought you guys said the Patriot act was so bad? Now you think it's fine to record everyone's cellphone calls? Another "nuance"?

How did you like the way I set you up again?

LOL. You're a legend in your own mind.
