The headline today is "Bush wants to trash Social Security". Without getting into the complex details, very few Republicans are going to go along with Bush on this, and zero democrats. So why is he suggesting these unpopular ideas? Because the extreme right upperclass hates entitlements, is jealous of DEmocrats for founding SS and wants to chip away at SS (like reproductive rights and environmental regulartions) unless there is nothing left. And their cronies like MBNA pocket the big profits.
