To: average joe who wrote (19874 ) 4/29/2005 3:17:37 PM From: Greg or e Read Replies (1) | Respond to of 28931 As I have already pointed out Numbers 31; begins with these words.... Then the LORD spoke to Moses , saying, "Take full vengeance for the sons of Israel on the Midianites;.... "these women caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to trespass against the LORD in the incident of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD." Question for you Joe. Does God have the right to order Moses to kill someone God himself has judged worthy of death? You already answered this question with an emphatic NO so your problem really is with God you think He is unjust and immoral.Message 20780457 You are commanded not to "murder". That is the meaning of the text Joe, too bad if you don't like it. God does not command Himself, He has no need to since He never does anything unjust or unrighteous. To do so would be to go against His own nature and character. God alone has the right to judge the souls of Men. To die physically is not the worst thing that can happen to an individual. "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." What answer will you give to God when you stand before Him to give an account for your life Joe? I hope it's not to try and convince God that you are more moral than He is, which is what you are implying in your posts. "If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." (Hebrews 10:26-31)
