Is/was outsourcing to Ireland, Jamaica OK? The operators from those countries don't have neutral accents. And before India and Phillipines, those were the call center outsourcing destinations.

Funny thing about accents! Notice that chicas like Penelope Cruz and actress Selma Hayek are expected to retain their spanish accents. And that is cute. And Selma even studied in the US.

On the other hand, Aishwarya Rai, a popular Indian actress moving to Hollywood, tries so hard to neutralize her accent in Bride and Prejudice and on her TV appearances. This despite the fact that the current crop of Indian actresses are westernized, speak good English, and are very comfortable with their Bombay accents.
