If they use fake papers, the employers is paying SS tax for them although they will never claim it.

Well we should. The people u are bankrupting by not paying for green card workers is the people who provide the basic services to keep them healthy and in the work force....i.e. doctors, physical therapist, social workers, psychologist other professionals et al....

My main point was that the proposed "fixes" don't really fix the SS problem and the specific issue with green carders receiving SS benefits is another example of ignoring the whole picture. If you start paying out SS payments to green carders, then you're creating another shortfall to be fixed.

In principal, I don't object to valid green cards receiving payments from a system they put into. Though what I would prefer is to exclude green cards from paying SS tax. Or at least limit it to those designated as permanent residents. Let them contribute a % for short term payouts such as disability and medicaid. I think this would go some way to encouraging that the workers are actually legal ones. Though that's an idea which no one discusses which makes it dead in the water.

In any event, before I'd do anything with green cards and SS I'd like to insist on two measures. One, there has to be a better system of identifying who is legal and who is not. Two, I believe the only way to practically control the illegal flow is through the employers. We need to start stomping on employers who hire illegals. Bankrupt them through fines if we have to or throw some employers in jail for hiring illegals. If they can't get jobs in the US, they won't be pouring over the border.
