Even options and frills such as private jets and lunches can be defined as income based on their worth when granted and given. Heck, the tax code is about a million pages in length and the middle class is being taken to the clearners with AMT. If there is a will to make the US of A fair and robust instead of skewed and stagnant, there's always a confusing but useful way. Dems still haven't figured out how to do the talking points thing. They are, however, working on it for a change. It wouldn't be raising YOUR taxes. It would be raising the greedy blood-sucking, vacation-going thug's taxes while simultaneously reducing YOUR DEBT and TAXES. It can be done. If Republicans can figure out a way to lie, cheat, steal and have their minions clamouring for more, Dems can figure out a way to give back and not have Americans screaming about it.
