No, not too tough. I'm getting there too. This problem has been talked about since the late 1980's-early 90's. Hillary wanted to fix things, so immediately she had closed door meetings. The insurance companies were really spooked because of that, and started raising their rates even higher.

I know. I watched it happen as a recruiter. Insurance rates that companies offered were considerably under $100/mo for a family of 4....The companies either paid the premiums for everyone in the family, or offered partial paid premiums. Today, the rates for the 2 of us are $1150/mo!!!! And that is with a co-pay.

When AIDS raised it's ugly head, and when insurance companies were required by many of the States to take everyone who applied, no matter their ailments, many companies left those states, including many in WA State. Now many people can't get even Basic Insurance because so many companies have left and the ones who have stayed have raised their charges to very high premiums.

The 1990's were tough on companies....They had to try to continue paying high insurance premiums for their employees, and their retired folks (although only large companies and/or the US Government could afford to pay for their retired's insurance)...but they also had to cope with the cost of doing 1-9's, Family Leave Act, and all the etcs...

People wonder what has happened. They need to go back to the 1990's and check out the programs that were enacted.
