I understand that. But it was the Republicans who proposed and passed that huge leftist giveaway and AARP did indeed side with them. Ergo, you can't say that AARP will always side with the Dems. It might be fair, though, to say they will side with the huge leftist giveaways. Sad to say, the Republicans are into that now, as well.

Actually treating medical conditions with drugs is the way to lower healthcare costs. Taking lipitor is much cheaper then a triple heart bypass or even stents.

So it makes economic sense to fashion a program where drugs costs are supported to make sure people get the drugs they need to prevent more serious conditions and keep their present conditions from getting worse and requiring hosital care. Drugs are medical care and cheaper then doctors.JMHO.
