Now are you suggesting that GMO seeds are good because there are fewer combine accidents? What about the distinct possibility of unleashing unforeseen chain reactions that destroy the ability of nature to feed all of us?

Also, my husband, who grew up in rural Northern Ireland, has told me that farmers there often get complacent and do not follow farm machinery safety rules. So the incidence of accidents could be less if people were more careful.

I used to work for the brother of a one-armed farmer. Guy lost it to an accident involving the PTO on his tractor. He could do more work with that one arm that most of the people on the haying crew could manage with two good arms.
