I never make broad characterizations about the market, to decide whether to be invested. I am always pretty much 100% invested - so I look for sectors with value and promise.

MESA was a good example of a solid company in a lousy sector. Despite good results every quarter, the stock keeps sinking. The automotive industry looks like the airlines now - a huge sinkhole for capital. I have my doubts that even good companies in it will enjoy much share price growth.

I would rather be invested more in energy than the energy consumers. Of course, I am down slightly for the year so I can't claim to be an amazing market genius right now.
