Hi JF,

Thanks for chiming in! :-)

>>The Park Service can surely tell you what to expect at Yosemite.<<

That goes without say. But in truth, I was hoping to get feedback from some non-NPS folks who have hiked Half Dome. The park service and backcountry personnel are generally superb. I'm continually impressed by the time and effort they take in making sure visitors have the best experience possible. Still, if I'm to be honest, I must admit that I've been given overly optimistic reports about trail conditions from park rangers on more than one occasion. One ranger severely minimized snow conditions in the upper part of Grand Canyon National Park in mid March, and another gave me completely inaccurate information regarding snow conditions in Rocky Mountain Natl Park in early June. In both instances, talking to hikers who had done the trails themselves helped me immensely. I just think it can be helpful to get feedback from a variety of sources when planning an adventure of this sort.
