Many, I think we all know that he was just blowing smoke during the campaign. He could lie with a straight face, but the leaders of the other countries of the earth, could mostly catch on to the con game he was playing, but probably not until the damage was done. The reason he got so many votes is because such a large portion of the electorate knows nothing about the issues being discussed, or exactly where a candidate stands, and vote their emotions, instead of their intelligence, if the have any. It also indicates that there are a lot of liberal/socialist/democrats around that will vote for any candidate that appears to be on their side.
