I'm north of the wasting zone but what you are reading is accurate from what I've heard and read. I also used to hunt an area of CO that had the CWD in the elk herd and the only way to know was testing the brain which the CO DNR did for free both to tell you and to track the disease.

They have not proven however that CWD can be passed as far as I know.

The best way to keep deer herds healthy is to keep their populations in check. This is one of the principles I learned in my work as a forester. We managed wildlife habitat, so we had to know a little about wildlife management.
