OK. I am not that person. I live as far from Florida as one can get, almost, and still be in the lower 48.

As I see it, a person should have the right to defend himself or herself. The smartest thing is to run like hell if possible, but I don't think a person should be punished for defending against goblins in the gravest extreme, if there is no other choice.
