MHO is that the "other" side does not move at all. Right now they have pushed their militaristic anti-gun agenda below the surface because it was costing them elections. Let the balance swing, let them in charge, and we will see their true colors.

The problem is, legislature very seldom, by positive action, restores rights which have been taken away.

Therefore, each new bill is a further restriction of rights, almost never is there a restoration of rights.

Therefore, when you say compromise, you mean agree to less restrictions than the bill wanted, but agree to some.

In other words, each bill, after compromise, moves us a little closer to "Turn them in...", never further away.

Thats the problem with compromise, on this subject.
