China exploded their first miniature hydrogen bomb on Sept 25, 1992. It was a copy, accurate to 4/100s inch, of the W-88 design. The Chinese appeared to begin working on this bomb shortly after a visit by George A. Keyworth, who was then appointed as President Reagan's science advisor.
