Europe has absorbed a lot of black and brown people from its former colonies. They have problems in this area as well, but if you were a black Englishman, you and your family would have pretty good health care, for example. I don't think we can block blacks at the border, since we brought so many of them over here and enslaved them. An objective person would have to note that the way we treated Native Americans and the descendants of former slaves didn't help them integrate into the middle class very well or very quickly. To me it was sort of a pay now or pay later thing, and we are paying now. I am not willing to excuse abysmal ratings in categories like infant mortality just because our population is not totally white. There is no excuse for Americans having such bad health care that mostly only the insured middle class has access to. Maybe it would be fairer to say that since we have a race problem in this country, even though most of the white folks here love it to death, it is not the best country on earth--that we have some longstanding problems we need to deal with in order to make it better.
