No, the HIV rate on its own doesn't prove the UK is a lousy place to live. There is not much HIV in Afghanistan because there is not a whole lot of promiscuous sexual behavior (due to the Taleban and a very repressive religion in general).

I don't think you understand my logic very well. I am looking at very broad trends like infant mortality, home ownership rates, universal health care and other things that make a huge difference in quality of life when you put them all together. One statistic on its own is just one statistic on its own. Not significant on its own.
