Yep Sarge,
to say the least.. Do they take into account the provincial debt ? I'm trying to see that because as you know Ontario is in a jackpot right now and apparently Quebec's budget was mostly smoke and mirrors.. soooooo if that report is based on Federal numbers only... you know what it is worse right ?

Maybe I'm just too cynical.. My provincial taxes should be going down soon maybe :o) They'll cancel the new health tax ooops sorry levy that is ... and roll back my property tax hike ?

regards
K

Yes, saw that ... i think if you strip out oil and gas we don't have much of a trade surplus, if at all ... you can only pump each barrel once, burn it once, so it should be stripped out to get a more meaningful picture, imho

A few posts before that -

' Number Nine: Unrelenting Protectionism. The Bush administration began its campaign for old-fashioned protectionism with a disgraceful tariff on steel that did nothing to help the industry, but much to harm American business by vastly raising the costs of steel. After incredible protest, the Bush administration finally declared victory and repealed its tariff, but only while adding more tariffs and protections for timber, shrimp, clothing, and a hundred other items in the USTR's daily operations, all of which have the same theme: the rest of the world had better buy our stuff, but the U.S. government has no obligation to stop taxing American consumers to benefit well-connected U.S. companies.'

It's only number nine on Lew's list, but at least it's ahead of Martha Stewart .... here it should be a much more discussed issue than it is - the Liberals have done nothing about the tariff wall against softwood lumber, if Harper wants a crack at governing let's hear his plan to fight it ... or at least some interest in fighting it ... this would serve him dual purpose, it would go some way to knocking back the lackey-of-neocons image
