Dont confuse the war on terror with the Iraq invasion.
That confusion has really been a deliberate hoodwinking of the American people. Fox News even calls Iraq "the war on terror", trying to cooperate with the Bush propaganda there. But before we invaded there weren't any organized terrorists in Iraq, just a few old retired ones. The terrorism in Ireaq began after in invaded.

It is pathetic to see our president kissing the Saudi Prince when his country was the one which supplied the 9-11 hijackers.

As for Kerry, he was definitely the best candidate.
Who else could have beaten Bush in three straight debates?
Not Lieberman, Gephardt, Dean, Clark or even Edwards. Kerry thrashed Bush. But in the end it wasn't the deciding factor.
Why that is is complicated. Karl Rove probably knows though. Something to do with fears, smears, dividing and conquering. But even so, it was a close race.

Nobody manipulated his winning the nomination. He achieved it the hard way. He fought, fought, fought and never gave up even when the media was saying he was finished.

Kerry came close to beating Bush too. Bush was really lucky people dismissed the debates and didn't seem to care so much about the issues. Bush also cleverly used the smear campaign and phony terrorist alert scares to his advantage and is lucky the public didn't see through him on those dirty tricks. Then there was Osama coming out right before the election. Bush's best friend Osama help him again. Let me tell you, the Bushies were not sure they were going to win at all. In fact on election day, they believed they had lost. I heard Hannity making a concession speech that day.

Bushies also cheated in Ohio, but who knows if it was enough to have made a difference.
