People involved in real estate and other industries in the US have become so accustomed to borrowing money at subsidized below-market rates that it has fostered a sense of entitlement

An even bigger problem is in the real economy there is no desire to borrow for R&D or capital investment anymore even at these low artificially low rates. Capital only flows to real estate and financial engineering of the carry trade these days.
