You assume that people who use work animals hate and torture them like Simon Legree. I assume that they love and treat their animals like you do your cats. You do treat them well, don't you? How am I supposed to know that? Can I come and check out the environmental conditions you provide for your animals?

Iditarod mushers love their dogs and take good care of them. The race rules provide for rest periods, and enforce good care. Very few dogs actually die during the race. No musher wants his dogs to die because they might be disqualified. If they don't finish the race with the minimum number of dogs, they are disqualified. They leave some behind but the dogs are not left just to freeze to death, they are cared for and return home.

I am not into racing animals, sled dogs, greyhounds, horses, whatever. No Nascar either. To each his own. I'm kind to animals and they like me. I can make friends even with mean dogs if I have a chance and enough time. If I saw somebody abusing animals I would try to stop it.

There is no point in abusing animals that you intend to receive a benefit from. If you abuse them you won't get their best.

There is a point at which my involvement in the affairs of others becomes nonsense.
