Hi Maurice - You might want to talk to some Taiwanese (in several senses of that word) about how much freedom, especially freedom of speech, and democracy there is and has been in Taiwan. I remember the KMT won every election up until about 10 years ago. Sort of like the PRI in Mexico. I think there were also some effective limitations on business freedoms also. Taiwan was not Hong Kong.
