he only carries the gun anymore - wearing the chain was not a deal for him - they would not give him what he knew it was worth, only 30-40% of its gold value. He couldn't send it to a smelter cause he needed the money right then you know. I thought it was an insurance policy for bad times, but he said with credit cards these days who needs insurance like that? hehe

I am not refuting that gold can be used for exchange, it will not be used in the future for 12 billion people on ebay though - is that what you believe? why? I just don't see it and no one has made even a half hearted attempt trying to make a case for 12 billion people on ebay with gold coins going back and forth on UPS planes - or even green paper going back and forth - that is the past.

My granddaddy said everybody should know how to make moonshine from a still - hehe - if there was just a way to keep cigarettes fresh for a few years - but you can buy wine and store that for a long time. I tell you another disaster scenario item that may hold up well from what I have read on some collector blogs - very very rare highly collectible baseball cards would be transportable and hold thier value - I could hold about a million worth of cocaine in my hand, how much gold or currency or liquor bottles or cigs would I have to carry on my back to represent 1 million worth? They exhumed some mummies from egypt - there was cocaine in and around them - 5000 years old - still potent. Talk about a store of value.

Why does this comic have a $70K or so worth? 70K in gold coins would be lots heavier no? If we are fleeing an invading enemy which one do we grab and run out the door with - the gold coins or the batman comic? What did Napoleon come and get from Egypt - how much is his chess set worth??

A $2000 Atlas from 1608 - do I give this or some gold coins to the evil soldier while I flee?

This figurine from rome is going for 800 bucks so far - maybe go lots higher.

I remember reading in IRAQ they sent lots of TROOPS to get the OIL wells protected while the CRIMINALS looted the musuems and stole all the art and collectibles - what was valued by who and why??
