Can't argue about the content that Brinkley wrote about...because I haven't read it. But it is clear from the acknowledgements in the book that he had full access to Kerry's records:

at page 520 of his "Acknowledgements" section:

Also with Kerry's permission, I obtained his Navy records and have used them as a reliable source.


That indicates to me that he obtained the records from the Navy.

Now if you can't understand why a decision may have been made to keep some records from public scrutiny, especially in the face of a tough campaign and dirty tricksters...then you don't understand politics.

Kerry may have said that he would release everything...he probably wanted to...but his campaign people probably blocked that from happening...especially in the face of attacks from the shifty swifties. Can you blame them for that?

And now post campaign...the need for disclosure is a moot point. So you should concentrate on the lies of Bush...since he was the winner of the election and is the guy we should be holding up to high standards...not the loser Kerry.
