The main effect of that will be to shift business to completely foreign companies that never where American. Plus their is the posibility that you could get an adverse GATT ruling or even a full scale trade war.

There are numerous laws that can be into play to protect the American position. It helps that we are one of the largest and most affluent markets in the world.

Why should a formerly American company have to pay a tax that other foreign companies don't have to pay?

When you say formerly, I am assuming you're talking about one that has moved to the Bahamas or Bermuda. To answer your question, I offer you the inverse....why shouldn't they if they are an American company that has moved offshore to escape taxes?

Screw them, Tim.......I am not enthralled with the corporate world. Typically, they are self centered and self absorbed with little concern for their customers. There are exceptions but they are rare.
