Thats exactly my point. Today if the U.S. tried to go for total all out World Domination, I'd fully expect Russia or China to step up. World Domination however will never occur through force, simply because it doesn't work. What probably does work is democratization of all the countries and getting individuals to AGREE on a World Govt. Once established, World Govt powers will grow and grow and grow and become more and more tyrranical. Example. When the U.S. was founded the founding fathers established checks and balances and wrote a Constitution limiting the size and power of Centeral Govt in relationship to the States. What do we have today? Due to "crises" such as 1929, WWI and WWII, we have a GIGANTIC and POWERFUL central Govt, Presidents with the power to declare war unilaterally, Judges with the power to rewrite the Constitution without seeking consult from the States, and a Congress that is not checked in its Federal Spending or the extent of its laws. The Congress is not limited by the Commerce Clause and essentially has the police powers intended for the States. They Congress also it seems has the power to regulate anything, even if it never moves in interstate commerce.
