I have dozens of cousins in the United States, and not one of them has ever even complained about their health care. I asked one of them at a family reunion, (she showed up with a 20 year old child we didn't know existed) how the health care was, and she said in the early days of raising a child on her own, she had never suffered and now that they were a two income family, they still had good medical and dental care..... I understand health insurance is available if you want to pay for it, kinda like in Ontario, only you choose not the government..... And any Generous Motors or Ford employees are covered in the US..... One has only to be poor and in Canada to know what terrible service really is particularly in Niagara where they need and extra 50 or 60 Doctors...... But there are PLENTY of administrators in the system. I was in one of the hospitals they are going to tear down in 3 years, and the number of big I mean really BIG renovations they are doing is just nuts. Jack hammering through 3 foot thick concrete walls to move the waiting rooms around and all kinds of nonsense.... If your going to demolish it, don't be in the middle of renovations when the wrecker comes. seems like a simple concept. but while they can renovate and redecorate, they don't have enough people to take care of the patients or clean the place properly.....

"I don't understand why everyone compares our health care system to the U.S.'s as if they were the only two alternatives."

In this case it's only because Peter and I have been discussing the US and his preference for Ontario to join them, at least that's what we started to discuss, but it seems a very long time ago. <gg>

Cheers,
