Israel is a big pain in the butt. We spend 2 billion+ a year protecting that place. That's enough. We don't need to worry about 2000 year old Biblical scripture. we have enough problems as it is. We'll be lucky if we get out of Iraq without a trillion bucks spent and 5000 dead Americans.

And by the way, the reason the middle east is so violent is that three religions lay claim to Israel. I say let them all live in peace and agree that they all come from the same Old testament tribes. So they're all brothers. Who needs to fight over a grubby piece of ruins and cement road blocks. Who cares? Why hate each other? Just let it be.

Jews, Christians and Arabs live peacefully in Beverly Hills and Paris, so why not Jerusalem?

That's the same argument used to justify every sort of prophecy, from astrology to Charles Fort to Nostradamus. Vague, ill defined predictions are cherry-picked and shoehorned into the events the true believer wants them to predict. The obvious wrong predictions are ignored.
