I think you nailed it - he was really able to let the memes flow in his mind without constraints or the conditioning of interfacing with certain systems or technology - notice how hollywood has him and philip k dick type stories over the past 10 years or so. I have to watch a lot of three stooges and little rascals to get some laughter back - why are all the futurist films so dark and gloomy and no more larry, moe and curly? Red Dwarf is about the only futurist comedy I think I can remember as a series - from those great brits of course - do you know about others?
