Here's the problem with the explosion of housing in the southwest:

"Current Lake Powell storage is 8380 thousand acre-feet (KAF) (34 percent of capacity). Lake Mead storage is 15887 KAF (61 percent of capacity). Total system storage is 31519 KAF (53 percent of capacity). Lake Powell elevation is 3561.84 feet."

Bummer to have explosive growth when power and drinking water are both at the mercy of the rains in a desert area.
