The sniping on bulletin boards, which is especially nasty on the Yahoo board and also seems to have a major contributor on this board also, probably doesn't affect the stock price much, since VAR is 85.5% institutionally owned, and the people managing these big funds are more concerned about earnings than gossip. I still think that too many people connect Varian Medical Systems with Varian Semiconductors, and it tends to move up and down with the fortunes of the semiconductor group, even though it makes X-Ray tubes and cancer-treatment radiation systems. Hospitals around the world are buying them, but the stock market seems to ignore the international aspect and just concentrates on the home market. Eventually the big money managers should start to notice how well the company is doing.
