On brief glimpse to me there are still reasonable properties in your area so I can understand why your husband feels there is still potential. I was looking a VA repos and some of those properties in your area look decent for very little dollars.

Here in LA I can't see any bargains. What i do see is world areas that have increased to much in property value and world banks who hold these loans. To me it is looking like a international risk hopefully correction is nation by nation and two do not start to drop at once.
