I have visited or lived in about two dozen countries, including most of the industrialized ones that Grainne holds up as greater countries than the US.

Out of all of them, the US is the LEAST racist. IMO.

I have traveled in America, and feel very uncomfortable when I leave the coastal areas of northern California and the Pacific Northwest. I am really liberal politically, and my views don't mesh with those of most Americans. I did not say most Americans were horrible people, I was just talking about where I felt comfortable living. I'm sure I would have a lot of fun with you and Ish.

I would take Grainne on a nice easy canoe trip, if she were to come to my conservative redneck enclave with no leash law. We might even see a moose, some turkeys, and certainly we'll see osprey and Canada geese!

My favorite local restaurant has a little blurb on the menu with the Christian sign of the fish. The blurb says: "If you are hungry but don't have enough money, please let us know and we will prepare something for you." Nobody has ever abused that offer, and it still stands. The owner is a wonderful lady who knows suffering better than most.

I don't know if we have any gay people. But I habitually drank coffee at a donut shop owned by a couple of lesbians some time back. It was no different from any other donut shop, nor was the clientele.
