that i'm transitioning to the "relationship based" method of pursuing my livelihood. Kissing me won't get you raspberries or plums or apples. What are you going to barter with? I could give you a load of apples you could take south and buy coffee beans for me. The value of gold is that people everywhere in the world recognize it as a medium of exchange. The disadvantage is it is only good for filling teeth. But carrying a piece of metal is a lot easier than taking 200 lbs of wheat to the butcher.
