If true, that would be compelling evidence on the Italian side that the US screwed up big time. I don't buy the argument that US forces were gunning for her, though.

Yes that is what the Italians are claiming. The Americans are claiming the opposite, that the vehicle was traveling fast, that it didn't stop when signaled, or even after warnings shots, and that there had been no prior communication about the car.
