That's some kinda spin.

Deficits spinning out of control, and the Washington Post views a temporary windfall tax collection as more than a pimple on the carbuncle of America's bankruptcy.

I think the tax receipts (if treasury gives us a breakdown) would show a sharp increase in capital gains/AMT due to real estates sales in 2004.

This is no different from the gains during the dotcom era but not as extreme, probably due to the size of the bubble and the $500k exemption for the principle residence.
