Oh KT, I'm crushed!

You've been around long enough to know that the empty suits on TV are not representative of economists. They are shills for brokerages, and should be ignored.

Also, most economists are not macro types who sit around all day long pondering the merits of Keynes vs. Freedman. Only academics and government types have the luxury.

The economists that I know are are hard-working types who don't share the proprietary information of their company/industry. I have been an energy economist for 25+ years, and love it!! With energy trading/risk management so critical to anyone in the energy business, good practicing economists (not pontificators) are critical.
