This is the election to: - put together a Constitution to be voted on - take over things like security and electricity and oil production and garbage pickup - be a 'beacon of light' to prove that the ME can have democratic governments (who the heck said they couldn't?) - demoralize the insurgents so they would pack up and go home - give not just hope but concrete results to Iraqis Are you kidding? This is what the rightwing touted was worth $300 billion. The purple finger (up yours) brigade of Republican idiots paraded in front of the world at the SOTU. The hugging, purpled fingered women made front page news. Are you kidding? Saddam was corrupt. When did his population vote him out? What makes you think that Chalabi isn't corrupt? What makes you think the PM isn't corrupt? WHAT? We can't get a clean election in the US of A and we've been at it for two centuries. Who the heck are we to preach such baloney? Elections are just that, elections. Elections are not democracy, they are not the white knight, they are just elections.
