I post on this subject with trepidation, because I fear an outbreak of religion posts. I have to cover it, because of it's political implications. I hope everyone here will post on it only in that context. I will cut off any posts that are not.

Seems to me that some faith is required to believe that matter spontaneously and randomly becomes more complicated and organized over time.

Evolution by natural selection is a process that works up from simple beginnings, and simple beginnings are easy to explain.
