Nicole Coste is quoted in Paris Match as saying she met Albert on a flight in July 1997, leading to a relationship and the birth of a child in August 2003. The interview is illustrated with pictures of the prince holding and feeding a young boy with dark curly hair and eyes. Coste said she went public with the story because "I want Alexandre to grow up normally with a father." Palace spokesman Armand Deus said Wednesday that he had no comment on the claim. Albert, who is a bachelor, is the only son of Prince Rainier III and film star Grace Kelly. He took over the royal powers in the principality shortly before the death of his father in April. Coste claimed the prince had signed a certificate recognizing paternity, but also said she never got a copy of it. She claims that after she met Albert, he gave her a set of keys to his Monaco apartment, that she accompanied him to several official events and spent one romantic night walking hand-in-hand together around Monte Carlo. "After a few months, I had fallen in love," she was quoted as telling the magazine. Coste said she is staying in Albert's Paris apartment and that he last saw the child in February. "When he comes over he is very natural," she was quoted as saying. Albert caused consternation to his father because of his refusal to wed and produce heirs. The 47-year-old told an interviewer once he was not opposed to marriage, but just doesn't "want to make a mistake." Concern for the continuation of the Grimaldi dynasty led to a constitutional revision in 2002 to circumvent the problem posed by Albert's lack of heirs. The next in line would be Princess Caroline, now 48 and the eldest of Albert's two sisters. She, in turn, would be succeeded by her oldest son, Andrea Albert Pierre, now 20.
