Go rage at your congressman. It is a LAW. It was broke. Suffer the consequences. You want graduated penalties for same sex - sex, petition for it. Right now it is against the law. Yes, the young man's life is basically over. A felony conviction, sexual predator, both will follow him for life. Plus whatever horrors he will experience in prison the next decade. But at 17 or 18, I knew those laws, I knew not to date a 15 yr old girl. Is the sentence wrong, yep, way too harsh. But it is not a new law, it was not passed just to catch 17 yr old and 15 yr old relationships. It was passed to stop 40 year olds from dating 13 yr olds. The judge may be a far religious right person and you would be right to rail against him, if that were true. But you don't know. Call KS and ask that the Romeo and Juliet exception be applied in this case. It should ave been, but the law is not written that way. It sucks, but to blame the right wing for this, is odd.
