"If only Kerry would provide us with a bit more information we could put this controversy somewhere behind us and concentrate on more recent matters such as his vote of 23 Oct. 2003 against the bill to ban partial-birth abortion. Kerry could ease our minds by showing us the scar on his upper arm which a major wound would have left. Better still, he could release all of his records concerning just this first medal. However, it is probable that Kerry will not provide this information, indeed dare not because that would feed the chorus demanding that his full Vietnam record and FBI files on him be released, and they contain a bunch of time bombs. Tens of thousands of people knew this before the Swifties' book appeared, and the democrat leadership knew as well as anyone. This old cynic is thus forced to the conclusion that Kerry's wounds are supposed to fester and do him in. As a side benefit, the general public's attention, such as it is, is to be diverted from Kerry's performance in the Senate because it is the same as that of the overwhelming majority of the democrat senators."
