Yes, real assets would do well... but I don't know if there is enough gold in the world to return a nation as large as ours to a gold standard.

A constitutional mandate for an annually balanced budget (the 'new dollar'?) and restrictions on the Fed's manipulations would return us to status as the 'world's reserve currency though... as I don't see the EU or even a China/Japan axis as being able to improve upon those conditions.
