Yeah, sorry... I had already posted before I read your post. It did explain your thoughts better.

I still do think that it's going to be nearly impossible to time the best entry based on anything as arbitrary as a stock price of 14 or even 12 for AMAT. And institutional ownership of AMAT as low as 50% in 2005 or 2006?

It's not likely. But if you average down from 14 with a long term outlook you should do fine. That is as long as we are not totally wrong and AMAT never hits 14.

BB, this site lists the 16 biggest MF holders of AMAT. Most reported at the end of 2004 and most had added to their AMAT holdings [at prices higher than today's]. moneycentral.msn.com

Your 50% scenario requires them to admit they were mistaken and sell some at a loss.
