In all that time, he's never lied, fibbed, or whatever you want to call it. If he doesn't want to answer, he won't, but he doesn't lie. He has a certain inner sixth sense about this. He just won't go near a lie. He also doesn't feel comfortable spinning. At the most he embellishes the truth, or maybe throws out an old chestnut or two, but usually he is blunt and very realistic. He's a straight-shooter, very ethical, knows what's going on in the world and sees through the BS. Basically, he's a leader we can trust on all sorts of levels which really matter to our future. The problem is, truthfulness and ethics do not matter to as many people as they used to in this country, including it seems, the entire rightwing. Of course, there's a terrible double standard. If Clinton lies about cheating on his wife, that's awful, but Bushie leaders are allowed to lie and shamelessly spin and cover up every single day about all sorts of subjects. So basically no accountability. Say whatever you want, so long as it sounds good. For instance, Tom Delay is one of the most corrupt men ever in US politics, and Bush took us to war on false pretenses and has done a lot of other dishonest things we well. But the rightwing applaud them both. Instead of holding their leaders accountable, or asking where the money is all going, they simply blame it all on "liberals". The evengelical rightwing in particular has no need for the truth. That's because they start out denying science, world history, education, sexuality, psychology, any complexities in life and the meaning of both the Constitution and the Bible. In the process they go through life in denial like closed-minded cult members, brainwashed to believe in impossible fallacies and everyone else's guilt and sins but their own. They see the world in black and white stereotypes, boogey men, scapegoats, con men, devils, phobias, outrageous apocalyptic predictions and they worship faulty notions of God and Jesus which are largely figments of their own imagination. Furthermore, they are used to blindly following leaders who often lie, steal, take the Lord's name in vain (God told me to raise 2 million by Friday) and misrepresent everything from Christ to corn dogs. And doesn't matter that every single prediction their leaders have ever made has turned out to be baloney, they still believe. What we need is realistic, common sense, open-minded moderate leadership, and a government with checks and balances. Without it, the USA will continue in the rut it's in now. And if you want proof of the rut, just look at the projected deficits under Bush, and the 2.1 trillion in new deficits since he took office.
