Todays Webcast ...

100,

<< Especially from you and Eric. >>

I could only half listen in between business calls and mail. What I did hear I thought was quite good by all, but I won't be able to really listen till this weekend and I haven't even reviewed slides in detail but did get em knocked to file. I only caught about ¼ of the Q&A but there were good questions and good answers. I was very pleased to see the MSM7500 on target to sample this quarter and MSM7200 still targeted for Q1 2006 even though HSUPA included.

One thing I did hear Sanjay say was that he anticipated one MSM6250 powered DoCoMo 700 series (lower-tier than OMAP powered 900 series) handset to be available between fall and December and two more early in 2006.

I also thought he said that one MSM6250 powered handset was available at Vodafone K.K. in Japan but I sure can't find it on their site ...

vodafone.jp

... so maybe about to be.

What little I heard I didn't hear anything that would get analysts warm and gooey.

Best,

- Eric -

QUALCOMM WCDMA Market Share

100,

One more recall ...

I heard Sanjay answer a question about this but didn't take notes. Below is from a TMF poster and what he states is pretty much as I recall it.

His answer (in my words): To achieve 50% market share two things will need to happen.

1) The handset vendors currently signed up to use QCT UMTS ASICS will need to claim a disproportionate share of the UMTS handset market relative to their current GSM market share.

2) QCT will have to score another tier 1 customer, i.e. Nok, Sony-Ericy or Motorola.

To a follow on question (again I do not recall the analyst) Sanjay replied that the customer most likely to switch is Motorola, but they want a "very good deal and not to charge royalties." (audience laughs)

Preceeding the above as recalled by the TMF poster, Sanjay adroitley avoided a direct answer and instead stated that it depended on how sucessful new launches with QUALCOMM's customer's hansets were, and how sucessful QUALCOMM's customers particular handsets were againsst competitive handsets.
