"Wouldn't it be more sensible to draw the borders to reflect current reality?"
Certainly. 1967 borders with adjustments to the reality on the ground. My understanding is thats where clinton/barak was going. I expect the ultimate solution will leave all parties somewhat unhappy and thats what makes a peace plan. I think key point is that both nations have contigous lands and that means removal of settlers from behind the fence. For the pals it means giving up right of return other than symbolic, rights to some WB and receipt of other land and payments in exchange. Mike

"How about the borders where the Israelis already are?"

If what you want to achieve is:
1) Greater support for Hamas and Hizbullah

2) A non-contiguous Palestinian state

3) Continued lack of international support.

4) Ongoing attacks by Palestinians.
